East Hampton Historical Society

The East Hampton Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history and cultural heritage of East Hampton. Through its historic sites, exhibitions, educational programming and special events, the organization provides residents and visitors with opportunities to connect with the people, places and stories that have shaped the community. The East Hampton Historical Society hosts four marquee events each year: the Membership Celebration, Antiques & Design Show, Design Luncheon and House & Garden Tour. Each plays an important role in raising awareness and support for the organization while introducing new audiences to its mission.

WordHampton Public Relations was engaged to increase the visibility of these signature events, drive attendance and strengthen year-round awareness of the Historical Society, its programming and the historic properties and resources it manages.

WordHampton developed an integrated public relations and social media strategy designed to keep the Historical Society visible throughout the year while building targeted campaigns around each of its four major events. For the signature events, our team focuses on generating advance awareness through strategic media outreach, calendar listings, event announcements, targeted pitching and ongoing communications designed to reach both local audiences and visitors to the East End.

Our efforts extend well beyond the four marquee events. Throughout the year, we promote the Historical Society's evolving calendar of exhibitions, programs and special activations, from art exhibitions and historical talks to unique collaborations, including a Ralph Lauren Coffee pop-up on the grounds of Mulford Farm. These additional opportunities help keep the organization in the public eye throughout the year while showcasing the many different ways audiences can experience and engage with East Hampton history.

Additionally, our team manages the Historical Society's social media presence, creating content that supports its events and programming while also telling the broader story of East Hampton. Content highlights the Society's historic sites and collections and incorporates archival imagery, trivia, notable people and places, significant moments in local history and other engaging historical elements. This combination allows social media to serve not simply as an event- marketing platform, but as an ongoing extension of the Historical Society's mission—making local history accessible, engaging and relevant to both longtime residents and new audiences. Through consistent media relations and year-round social media storytelling, WordHampton has helped create greater visibility for the East Hampton Historical Society, its four marquee events and its diverse calendar of exhibitions and programming, while maintaining audience engagement between major initiatives. Our firm secured over 150 media placement reaching over 1.2 million readers. By balancing event promotion with compelling stories about East Hampton's past and timely opportunities to experience its history firsthand, the campaign reinforces the Historical Society as both the steward of the community's history and an active, relevant cultural organization today.
